I have been occupied with Japanese gardens for almost 15 years. Once I used to collect cultivars of Japanese maples, then I was interested in classical Japanese gardens. First I wondered why they were so appealing. Then I realized it was because the Japanese garden art is based on creating the place atmosphere (for example a pleasant feeling of loneliness and grace or one´s own limitation perception), not on creating forms. It is not about putting components together, it is the atmosphere that counts.In Europe the form is more important.
